Microclimate and development of Coffea canephora intercropped with Carica papaya: measures to mitigate climate change

Intercropped systems with Conilon coffee might provide a better environment for production. The aim of this study was to assess the microclimate and development intercropped papaya trees. Papaya planted spacing 3.20 x 2.40 m. trees were after eight months, 1.60 m, in-between (in same row). measurements taken 0, 40 80 cm away from plants, both in north south direction. Concomitantly, an adjoining full sunlight system (not intercropped) also assessed. included atmospheric parameters (temperature, irradiance, relative humidity) vegetative plants (leaf area, chlorophyll index, length plagiotropic branches, orthotopic branches number nodes) three periods year. led decrease irradiance temperature, higher means humidity during daytime all assessed, which contributes cultivation. shadow provided by contributed leaf area but did not affect neither growth nor nodes etiolation. may be potentially used as farming mitigate climate change.
